How Often Do You Listen?

Postby JSTDSagain on Sat Jul 18, 2009 9:31 am

I don't know if this question has been asked before but apologies if it has. How often do you listen to The Proclaimers music? I play the stuff almost every time I play music as I find enough variation of mood and tempo to fit more or less any setting. I would be useless selecting the music for parties - but I would be happy!

I keep buying new albums/cds by other artists but have come to the conclusion that I actually have enough music that I like - the sort that I can play and play and play the whole album through - to last the rest of my life.

A lot of it comes from the olden days when you couldn't 'skip' a track without risking scratching the vinyl, breaking the needle (Kids get your parents or responsible carers to explain) or stretching the tape, missing half the next track. You HAD to listen to every track and the lesser tracks became familiar and sometimes better and longer lasting tunes that the 'hits'. I now find I have many, many hours of 'good' music and with a few notable exceptions no real need to add to it. But that is drifting off the subject...

So, to recap, how often do you other fans out there listen?

I listen every day to a proclaimers album because I have them in my car and I'm lucky enough now to have the complete collection! :D

Yup. Daily. I use my iPod, so often I'll set it to shuffle through all the albums.

Agree JSTDS! So do I :D

I listen daily too. The day I don't, I start to get withdrawal symptoms LOL. I have the music on the ipod, in the car and at home, so it's easy :D

And yes, I keep buying music by other artists, but it's not the same. Usually, I can't listen to a non-Procs album more than once or twice. But I could listen to any Procs album over and over again

The car is one of my favourite places to listen, cos I can sing along and nobody can hear me (I suppose LOL). In fact, since I listen to the Procs, I don't mind going around looking for parking

I go days without listening to them. I walk 5 minutes to work, or I go to the upstairs office to work. so I don't hear them on my commute.

I think that The Proclaimers make terrible background music because it's impossible to ignore. So I can't play it while I'm working, which is really a lot.

I can't listen just before bed because I keep being told to be quiet!

But when I do listen, it's with full attention, unimpeded to allow for dancing as appropriate!

That's for sure. And also, that's why it's difficult for me to listen when other people are there, because either they start to talk and don't let me listen, or I listen to the music and ignore them

But some songs do relax me before bed. Some others don't, of course

I'm right there with you Rebe... If I'm not listening to the Proclaimers, it's because I have my iPod set on random. And they still come up at least once ever hour or so (even with 350.3 days worth of music in my playlist!). I've been listening to them most of the day today (except when I went for a job interview and when I went for my 1.5 hour bike ride). :D

I'm really digging this new album!

Yup, more or less every day. In the car. Either listening quietly (if in contemplative mood) to all the subtleties and nuances in the music as I enjoy the scenery, or singing along, giving the vocal chords a workout.

I did a 260 mile trip yesterday, and it was the first time for a VERY long time that I did NOT listen to The Proclaimers  SO enjoying Ray Davies' new album that it got the continuous play treatment instead.

Every day as I walk to work. I have fast and slow to vary my strides to get the most out of the journey! And in work on my computer, and home again in the night. I alternate it with gaelic music.

I am really into Slow Burner at the mo and loop it.

I just went into iTunes and put my playlist on random. The first song that came up? 'Let's Get Married'... :D
