I stick my earphones in while I work David, it helps to pass the time, my job can get stressful esp now when I am the only one doing it!

As she came up I hit any key to hide the page but she saw it. I nearly got a right rollicking!

What is your job Fran? I'm just being nosey

I'm a graphic designer in a publishing company. I design the ads which go into the magazines. You wouldn't believe some of the stuff I have to do. Some of the ads come back about 7 times with changes and then they say, oh can I have the first proof, I liked that one better. Of course, I've over-written it!

A lot of people send in Word documents of what I consider to be just the basic elements and when I design the ad they come back screaming NO NO NO - do it like I did it! And you think 'do they REALLY want their product to be advertised like that?

School secs and architects are the worst! They get quite pompous and no-one wants to pay!

I am getting quite a few web design projects lately and hope to get into that before I'm 60

Sounds like a really cool job! I've been a full time mum since 1992. My eldest has special needs (Down's) and has needed a lot of attention, hub's job takes him away all week so it works out well that one parent (me) is home full time and I've loved being at home. Both kids are growing up now (15 and almost 17) so I just applied for a part time position doing admin and secretarial for the Church Council in the village (under the Diocese of York). Its only 5 hours a week, nice and flexi too. Only 3 mins away from my house. It was very much a spur of the moment thing when I saw it advertised. Got 2nd interview on Tuesday. Not sure if I really want to do it even if I get the offer. They might try to rope me into church stuff etc & thats not really my thing. Plus I'm so used to my home life and all it entails that I'm not sure if I want to give any of that up, even for a few hours a week I'll see how it goes next week I think! I may have to class myself as retired at the grand old age of 44 and a half I'm serious!

I used to work for Marks and Spencer as a lab technichan testing fabric for children's wear before it went into production great job but they took all the work abroad and closed down the factory, the only part I did'nt like was travelling by myself each month to either London or Manchester and staying over in hotels. I work now for a supermarket in the evenings six till twelve with no hassel
My youngest is ninteen and is working part time with down's children and love's it, hubby is a long distance driver so i'm home alone a lot as you can guess from the amount of time I spend on here

We're all as nosey as each other I think! And why not? I need to know everything!

Fran, I love your job. I think I have a kind of a vocation for that. Sometimes when a friend is making a sign or a notice to sell something or whatever, I try to help them make it look better. It makes me cringe when I see those signs made in Word with Times New Roman 12pt all capitals and line breaks in odd places But as you say, some people want it like that!
