Best live: You'll have to wait till August for this!
Best on earphones: Notes&Rhymes
Best cranked up loud on hi-fi: Life with you
Best sing-a-long: The more I believe
Best emotional: Harness Pain
Best uplifting: I'm on my way
Best fun track: She arouses me so
Best cover: King of the road
Best B-side: They Really Do
Best song of all time: Ooooh I can't answer that but maybe I'm on my way

I thought I could bump this topic because my 'Best Live' song was pending. Now I can say something :D

Best live: JKB and LFA (Can't choose)

Maybe because they were composed to be sung acoustic, both voices sound truly powerful in these songs. Hearing C&C belt them out at you (wasn't it for me?) leaves you astounded.

Anyway all the songs I've heard live sound different to me now. If I close my eyes while listening to any of them, I can see C&C singing in front of me like in a film. It's amazing how some songs I wouldn't even put in my 'top 20' before, have become favourites after listening to them live, for example You Meant It Then (impressive!!) But maybe I'll keep changing my mind as I get to hear more songs live (Sky takes the soul please!!), tough choice anyway :D

Best Live? Sunshine on leith
Best on Head/Earphones? Here It Comes Again
Best Cranked up loud on the hi-fi? Joyful Kilmarnock Blues
Best Sing-a-long? Life with You
Best emotional? Act of Remembrance
Best uplifting? Love Can Move Mountains
Best fun track? Throw the R Away
Best Cover? Whole Wide World
Best B-Side (preferably different from above)? They Really Do

And most evil of all......

If you had to choose.

Best Song of All Time?
Couldn't possibly choose between JKB and Sunshine on Leith. JKB is probably the one I love the most, but I married a man from Leith and he sings SoL to me so it has to be there!

Just an after-thought

Best 'political'? - 'I Know' gets my vote (although living near a big British Aerospace factory I do love DIY!)

What do you guys think?

"I Know" has to be the best political song by anyone.

I agree, "I know". That lyrics are awesome. Scotland Story is too, if you call that political.

I told Charlie about this. I said many of us like "They Really Do" and he said "huh?" and had to think a minute.
I said the one I like cranked up is "Here It Comes Again" and he said "Oh yeah, great loud."
I wish someone else had been there to talk about these categories.

When was that Bobby? That would have been a GREAT conversation. I'm sorry I missed that...

I haven't replied to this because it's just so hard. And I'll have changed my mind by tomorrow! Seriously, next week, I'll have totally different answers because I love them all so much it's more a matter of what's stuck in my head at that moment. But here goes....

Best Live: Joyful Kilmarnock Blues
Best on Earphones: Unguarded Moments
Best Cranked up loud on hi-fi: Over and Done With
Best Sing-a-long: I Met You
Best emotional: He's Just Like Me/Act of Remembrance (do NOT ask me to choose)
Best uplifting: I'm on my Way
Best fun track: Dear Deirdre
Best Cover: Long Black Veil
Best B-Side: Lulu Selling Tea (Can we call that a B-side? It's not an album cut at least.)
Best Political: Blood On Your Hands
Best Song Ever: umm, err, well.....

You're killing me here!! I can't pick one. Just cannot. How about this? I know it's not I'm Gonna Be.

I thought I had an impressive cd collection but you guys know a couple I don't. I've never heard Gentle On My Mind. Is there some holy grail out there of obscure b-sides and the like?!?

Bobby, I was intrigued by your conversation with Charlie concerning They Really Do - as I am one of those whoabsolutely like it - it is fantastic track! I would like you to expand on Charlies responce "HUH!" what do you think he meant - had he forgotten it? Did he not rate it? Was he not bothered? What?

I am delighted you brought it up with him - every time I get to meet Craig or Charlie my brains turn to mush and interesting intelligent conversation just ain't gonna happen!!!

Regards,

David
Give me a zip for the back of my head - I want to join in too!!

Yeah, Bobby, I'd like to hear about Charlie's response too. And thanks for telling him!

David, not that I'm glad that it happens to you, but at least I'm not the only one whose brain turns to mush. LOL.

Please excuse me for not checking back to this interesting post.
Here's the deal with the Seattle, Portland, San Fran concerts. First there was a wee bit of the drink involved. Then we went from town to town, getting togther after the Seattle and Portlnd concerts at very convenient bars next door, then in San Fran, just in the venue/bar. A few people who post here and a couple who don't. It was a fan's dream.
I am not a partier, I do like to talk and I like to talk about music, and golly gee, there was Charlie asking me questions!
Now Yan, when Ch and I were talking about songwriters not remembering songs after they are written, you were carrying on in the midst of the band et al, in um, Portland (?). We were at the other end of the bar.
What I said was that we had lists of The Bests and that I couldn't really come up with most for me, but that my cover was Gentle on My Mind (which iniated two or three whole converations, one in which I teared up, oh cool), best cranked up was Here It Comes Again, to which he said "yeah, great loud", and best B side was They Really Do, which a lot of us like, to which he said "Huh?". "Oh yeah that was something, something, something." My point being he probably wouldn't remember They Really Do, and he didn't quite.
I did get some good conversations in with both of them concerning their music, stuff I had been so curious about, got the questions asked and fully answered. One thing was how hard Craig laughed when I told him one of my favorite lines is "For you they should bring hanging back, And I should be the one to send you on." He really laughed. It was like he loves it too. Hey, dude, you wrote it!
However, after the San Fran concert, we were discussing which songs they should sing at "Mountain Stage", a folk thing. I told them at that point, I couldn't remember ANY Procaimer's songs.
So nothing earthshaking, but I hope I explained everything.
