Look down the railtrack - Methil No More

Charlie and Craig - we need your help in your old county of Fife. We've been campaigning for years now to get the 5 mile stretch of railway line reopened from Thornton down to Levenmouth (Methil, Leven, Buckhaven and others). There are 38,000 people here on the Fife Coast - by far the largest settlement in Scotland with no rail link, despite the fact everything is in place. Since you sang about Methil back in the 1980s, the area has continued to go backwards. The highest levels of deprivation in Fife, the second largest secondary school in Scotland yet lousy connections and going backwards. Maybe that's why the Scottish Government doesn't hear us, despite a compelling case to reopen the line and everything in place (the line's still intact owned by Network Rail) - we are STILL left to rot, even after Letter to America. No other measure will bring about the positive transformation needed. We need `celebrity endorsement', we need prominent personalities to support our cause - we need effective political protest songs to rectify this burning social injustice (linked to other kinds of injustice - high unemployment, poor school attainment etc). How about a 2017 Letter to America equivalent? This is East Fife country but surely no competition with Hibs - we're all becoming part of the Edinburgh City Region even though it takes 2 hours by express bus. Anything you can do would be appreciated - we are serious and desperate. Contact the Levenmouth Rail Campaign (LMRC) if there is any prospect. many thanks and lang may yer lums reek.

I would walk 500 miles - well it's 35 miles to Edinburgh and the only public transport we can use is `express bus' which can take up to 2 hours. So basically we'd need about 7 return journeys to cover the full distance, Just as well jobs and other opportunities are as plentiful in Levenmouth as when you protested all those decades ago (being sarcastic). We need your support again to draw attention to this serious gap. Meanwhile many bette-heeled communities continue to benefit from transport improvements :P
